Food Safety


haccp2Ippolito Fruit and Produce, Ltd. takes pride in its robust and dynamic Food Safety System. We are committed and accountable to maintain and to continually improve our food safety system and to supply Safe and Quality produce. We comply with all applicable food safety regulations mandated by the federal Canadian government and the provincial Ontario government; as well as meet the required rules and regulations of our clients, currently in Canada and the United States.

Our Food Safety System is certified to the internationally accepted Safe Quality Foods (SQF) standards. The SQF standards are benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative. At present, our Spinach and Salad Greens products and Fresh “Diced” Vegetable products are certified to SQF Level 2 under the Fruit and Vegetable Processing Food Sector Category. Our Warehouse and our Repacking/Regrading Line will also be undergoing SQF Level 2 certification this year. As well, Baby Spinach, Spring Mix and select Field Greens are Organic Certified under the Canada Organic Regime (COR).

The Department of Food Safety implements an integrated approach to food safety. Management Commitment Programs, Pre-requisite Programs and HACCP Plans are backed by our Microbiological Testing Program and our promotion of On-Farm Food Safety. All these and the continued involvement and support of our staff contribute to the success of Food Safety at Ippolito.
